A team of academics from Bangor University have launched a ‘Bilingual Workforce Recruitment Pack’ after the received funding from the ARFOR Cronfa Her scheme. The aim of the pack is to aid employers who want to recruit Welsh speakers into their workforce to be able to do so by providing them with advice.
In a special conference last Friday (29 November 2024) to launch the pack, over a hundred people came together to hear about the team’s work and their aims for the finished work. The pack contains practical advice to institutions as well as a ‘Typology of Welsh Speakers’ Migration Decisions’ based on member of the team Elen Bonner’s research. You can learn more about Elen’s work and how the Welsh language effects migration decisions by reading her guest blog on Arsyllfa.
During the day there were a series of presentations and discussions by employers and young people as they shared their experiences of Welsh in the world of work. There were also presentations by language planning experts from the Basque Country and Wales discussing their work on how to create multilingual and inclusive workplaces.
