Free Eisteddfod stands for local businesses

Cyngor Gwynedd have launched an opportunity for local businesses to acquire display sites for their companies at the Llŷn and Eifionydd National Eisteddfod 2023 (5th – 12fth of August 2023). Businesses have the chance to make an application to display and sell their produce in one of four cabins that will be provided for free for those that are successful. Applications for three to four day periods or the full week are available subject to the amount of applications received.

In a statement launching the scheme, Cyngor Gwynedd’s Busnes@ department said that the arrival of the Eisteddfod provided an ‘exceptional opportunity for micro or small businesses to showcase and sell their produce on the maes’. The Council decided to provide this opportunity to help promote local businesses and aid them in getting the national visibility that the National Eisteddfod provides. Priority will be given to new, smaller sized and developing businesses as well as those that haven’t had the chance to attend the Eisteddfod in the past.

Applicants that wish to win a place for their business on the maes need to fill out a form to make an application. The form asks companies to outline a brief history of their business, explain how getting a chance to display in one of the cabins at the Eisteddfod would aid and develop their business and to comment on the possible effect gaining such an opportunity would have on their local economy. The Council also has an interest in the effect these companies have on the language and the environment, and there is the chance to outline their response to these factors in their application.

Those who wish to make an application can do so by following this link. The closing date for applications is the 25th of June at 5 p.m.
