February 2024 | Featured, Rural policy, Rural poverty

Samaritans Cymru have announced that they are searching for a Young Persons Project Officer to join them on a part time contract. The project is being run in collaboration with Tir Dewi, a charity that works to help farmers with their mental health, and they have received funding for a community project that aims to reduce the risk of suicide amongst farmers.

The appointed individual will be responsible for working closely with young farmers and key institutions to raise awareness, improve understanding of suicide and self-harm and helping to create support networks for farmers. They are looking for an enthusiastic and committed individual that has experience of rural and farming communities to lead the work and make the most of the project.
