Woodland Trust Cymru publishes policy paper addressing the nature emergency

November 2023 | Uncategorised

Woodland Trust Cymru have published a new report titled ‘Tress and Woods: At the heart of nature recovery in Wales’ that outlined the vision of the institution in order to get to grips with the nature emergency.

Woodland Trust Cymru see trees and woodland as a crucial part of answering the problems created by the fact that Wales is one of the countries that has seen the biggest drops in the number and variety of wildlife internationally. According to Woodland Trust Cymru only 9% of the native woodlands of Wales are in favourable conditions in ecological terms.

The document outlines principles for nature revitalization in Wales arguing that there is a need to better protect woodlands while creating more wooded areas with native trees in order to ensure biodiversity and strong ecosystems.
